We have an exciting contract opportunity for a seasoned Principal Enterprise Data Architect to join a Federal Government agency undergoing a significant transformation of its data and technology environments. This is a high-impact role where you'll lead the design and implementation of an enterprise-wide Data Ecosystem, helping evolve the agency from legacy systems towards a modern, future-ready target state.
You'll work within an established Architecture practice alongside Enterprise, Information, Solution and Cyber Security Architects to shape the agency's data strategy from the ground up.
Please note: This role requires the ability to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance. Australian citizenship is mandatory.
The Role
As the Principal Enterprise Data Architect, you will lead the design and implementation of the agency's enterprise-wide Data Ecosystem. Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain a modern data architecture strategy and blueprint aligned to the agency's goals and objectives Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into robust data architecture solutions
- Design and implement data models, schemas and databases to support storage, retrieval and analysis
- Establish streamlined, governed processes for the development of data environments and models
- Define architectural standards, policies and procedures to ensure data quality, security and compliance with whole-of-government requirements
- Evaluate and select appropriate technology platforms, connectors and tools for data processing, storage and integration
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Data Architect, ideally with enterprise-wide ecosystem design and strategy experience
- Strong data modelling skills, including industry-standard notation approaches
- Deep understanding of relational and non-relational databases, data warehousing and big data technologies
- Strong knowledge of modern cloud-based data architecture approaches including Lambda and Kappa architecture, data mesh, data fabric, API connectors and orchestration
- Experience developing and embedding data architectural principles and governance practices
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field
- Familiarity with Australian Government whole-of-government ICT requirements
- Experience in the financial or payments sector with transaction data
