We are currently partnering with a large  NSW Government organisation to engage multiple Senior Media Officers to support a busy and fast-paced media and communications function. These roles will suit experienced media professionals who are confident operating in high-pressure environments, managing reactive and proactive media, and engaging directly with senior stakeholders and journalists.

You will play a key role in managing media activity, supporting leadership, and ensuring accurate, timely and strategic communication across a range of channels.

Key responsibilities:
  • Monitor news coverage, social media and emerging issues, providing daily media summaries to leadership
  • Draft press releases, media statements, Q&As, talking points and event briefs
  • Act as a key point of contact for journalists and manage media enquiries
  • Coordinate interviews, press conferences, announcements and media events
  • Provide briefing and coaching to executives and subject matter experts
  • Manage reactive media issues and draft urgent responses as required
  • Work closely with internal teams including marketing, policy and social media
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and key journalists
  • Proactively pitch stories and identify media opportunities
Key requirements:
  • Proven experience in media, communications or public affairs roles (ideally within government or large organisations)
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate content under pressure
  • Experience managing reactive media and handling sensitive issues
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills, including working with senior executives
  • Experience using media monitoring tools (e.g. Isentia) and distribution platforms
  • Ability to coordinate media logistics including interviews and press events

  • 5 roles available
  • Standard hours: up to 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week (no overtime)
  • Submission deadline: Wednesday 8th April COB
