You will play a pivotal role in developing core in-house platforms, driving engineering excellence, and shaping the future of AI-enabled application development.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across application design, architecture, and engineering practices
- Guide teams in building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems from scratch
- Bring experience from large-scale, custom-built platforms (e.g. national platforms, digital ecosystems, or super apps)
- Review, validate, and challenge technical designs while coaching engineers on best practices
Platform Build & Transformation
- Lead the development of core in-house platforms, including transaction and wallet-like capabilities (e.g. account, KYC-like flows, stored value systems)
- Drive the build-out of loyalty and customer engagement platforms
- Own the end-to-end engineering strategy for a multi-year transformation roadmap (~2-year horizon)
Engineering Execution & Resource Planning
- Define engineering roadmaps and plan resource allocation across multiple initiatives
- Ensure effective delivery through strong governance, prioritisation, and dependency management
- Balance speed, quality, and scalability across all engineering outputs
People Leadership & Team Scaling
- Lead and scale a multidisciplinary team of ~50 engineers and business analysts
- Build internal engineering capabilities, reducing reliance on external vendors
- Coach, mentor, and develop engineering managers and senior developers
- Foster a strong engineering culture focused on ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
AI-Enabled Engineering & Innovation
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled development practices and tooling across the SDLC
- Explore integration between software systems and emerging AI/hardware capabilities
- Champion innovation in how applications are designed, built, and operated in an AI-first environment
Stakeholder Management & Alignment
- Partner closely with business, product, and executive stakeholders to align on priorities and outcomes
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Act as a trusted advisor on engineering strategy and technology decisions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong progression into leadership roles
- Proven experience delivering large-scale, custom-built platforms within complex organisations
- Strong background in modern architecture (e.g. distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native development)
- Demonstrated experience leading and scaling engineering teams
- Experience building core transactional systems (e.g. wallet, payments, loyalty, or similar platforms)
- Exposure to AI/ML or AI-enabled development practices is highly preferred
