Ethos BeathChapman has been exclusively retained to appoint a General Manager – Risk & Compliance for a leading financial institution. This permanent executive position will define and lead the organisation’s risk and compliance agenda, strengthening capability, informing strategic decision‑making, and ensuring adherence to governance, regulatory and legislative requirements.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, the General Manager will contribute to long‑term organisational strategy, uplift risk culture, and guide high‑performing teams across the function.

Key Responsibilities
Provide clear direction for the risk and compliance agenda in alignment with enterprise strategy.
Lead the development and enhancement of risk and compliance frameworks, policies and systems.
Partner with senior executives to embed effective and sustainable risk practices across the organisation.
Offer insights into emerging risks and ensure appropriate controls and mitigation measures are in place.
Oversee governance in areas such as privacy, information access, and regulatory engagement.
Lead compliance reviews, assessments and assurance activity to support continuous improvement.
Develop and coach leaders and teams to build capability, consistency and alignment.
Support organisation‑wide programs including business continuity and enterprise uplift initiatives.

Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will hold relevant tertiary qualifications and bring substantial experience within a regulated financial services environment, including:
10+ years’ senior leadership experience across Risk, Compliance or Governance.
Strong understanding of enterprise, operational and emerging areas such as AI‑related risk.
Demonstrated capability in meeting governance, regulatory and statutory obligations within complex, highly regulated sectors.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proven ability to influence and engage effectively at senior executive and Board levels.
A track record of shaping and embedding constructive risk culture.
