Role summary:
My client is seeking a CA or CPA-qualified Accountant with 3+ years of experience to join their Sydney-based finance team. This is a newly created, broad, and hands-on role covering core accounting activities including financial reporting, tax compliance, and day-to-day financial operations.
You will work closely with a high-performing local finance team and gain valuable exposure to digital asset accounting within a regulated, fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in the fintech or cryptocurrency sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, and maintain the fixed asset register
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements in accordance with AASB / IFRS
- Assist with BAS, GST, FBT, and income tax compliance, working alongside external tax advisors
- Support the annual audit process, including liaising with external auditors and preparing audit documentation
- Contribute to improvements in finance processes, internal controls, and system workflows
- Provide ad hoc financial analysis and reporting to the Financial Controller and CFO
- CA or CPA qualified (or nearing completion)
- Minimum of 3 years’ accounting experience, ideally with a background in public practice (Big 4 or mid-tier)
- Strong knowledge of AASB / IFRS
- High attention to detail with a structured, methodical approach to reconciliations and reporting
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within a small team
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or a regulated environment
