Our client is a leading financial institution with a strong regional presence and a significant technology agenda across its wealth and investment platforms.
As part of continued investment into its digital wealth capabilities, the organisation is building out modern, scalable platforms that support investment journeys, product execution, portfolio services and client-facing digital experiences across multiple markets.
This is a senior engineering leadership role for someone who enjoys staying close to technology while leading sizeable engineering teams across regional locations.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead the engineering direction and delivery of a key investment technology product area, working closely with product, business and technology stakeholders.
They will be responsible for shaping the technical roadmap, driving platform architecture, and leading multiple engineering squads across front-end, back-end and automation engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and delivery of modern full-stack platforms across investment, wealth or financial product journeys
- Owning the engineering roadmap for a specific product area, balancing business priorities with technical scalability and long-term platform direction
- Guiding multiple engineering squads across regional locations, ensuring strong delivery discipline and engineering quality
- Driving architecture decisions across microservices, APIs, event-driven design, reusable components and modern front-end patterns
- Working closely with product owners, business stakeholders and senior technology leaders to translate business needs into robust technical solutions
- Staying hands-on enough to review designs, challenge technical decisions, troubleshoot complex issues and guide critical implementation paths
- Building platforms that are scalable, resilient, reusable and able to support high-volume financial services environments
- Encouraging modern engineering practices, including automation, platform reuse, clean architecture and appropriate use of new development tools
Job Requirements
The successful candidate should bring strong full-stack engineering leadership experience within banking, financial services, fintech or a similarly complex enterprise technology environment.
They should be comfortable leading sizeable engineering teams while still being technically deep enough to engage in architecture, solution design and implementation discussions.
Key requirements include:
- Strong experience leading engineering teams or multiple squads in a large-scale technology environment
- Hands-on background in full-stack engineering, ideally across Java/Spring Boot, ReactJS, TypeScript/Angular, Python APIs or similar modern technology stacks
- Strong back-end engineering depth, with the ability to design scalable APIs, services and platform components
- Experience building enterprise-grade platforms using microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture and modern front-end frameworks
- Proven ability to work across product, business and technology stakeholders
- Experience in wealth, investment, trading, digital banking, private banking, brokerage or financial product platforms would be highly relevant
- Exposure to areas such as order management, execution management, portfolio management, funds, equities, bonds, FX, structured products or advisory platforms would be advantageous
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing or guiding multiple engineering squads across different locations
- Good communication skills and the ability to operate credibly with senior stakeholders
- Still technically curious and close enough to engineering to go deep when needed
Why you should join them
This is a strong opportunity for an engineering leader who wants to work on large-scale, modern platform build-out rather than just maintain legacy systems.
The organisation is investing heavily into its wealth and investment technology capabilities, with a multi-year roadmap to build regional platforms, support new markets and improve how investment products are delivered digitally.
The role offers the chance to lead meaningful platform work at scale, manage sizeable engineering squads, and influence the architecture of systems that support a growing wealth business.
It would suit someone who wants the stability and scale of a major financial institution, but still wants to be part of a modern engineering build-out with strong product ownership, regional scope and long-term career growth.
