The Opportunity
We are partnering with a leading global technology and industrial organisation to appoint a  Deputy Business Group Head – Industrial Automation  as part of its long-term leadership succession strategy.

This is a senior executive position with significant responsibility across  business strategy, P&L, sales, R&D and manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will initially take on a senior Business Group or Global Sales leadership mandate, with the opportunity to progressively assume broader business leadership responsibilities.

The role requires a commercially driven executive with deep understanding of the  semiconductor ecosystem, industrial automation and advanced manufacturing, combined with proven experience leading complex, multinational businesses.

Key Responsibilities
Business & P&L Leadership
  • Lead the strategic and commercial direction of a sizeable industrial technology business with full P&L accountability.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth, profitability and market expansion across multiple geographies.
  • Translate market and technology developments into long-term business and investment priorities.
  • Balance commercial growth with R&D investment, manufacturing capabilities and operational performance.

Semiconductor & Technology Strategy
  • Drive business development across the semiconductor and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
  • Identify growth opportunities across semiconductor processes, automation, equipment and integrated solutions.
  • Build strategic relationships with key customers and industry partners to strengthen market positioning.
  • Lead the development of solutions aligned with evolving customer and technology requirements.

Cross-Functional & Operational Leadership
  • Provide leadership across Sales, R&D and manufacturing-related functions.
  • Partner closely with manufacturing operations across multiple Asian locations to optimise capacity, execution and business performance.
  • Drive alignment between commercial requirements, product development and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Lead complex cross-functional initiatives across countries and business functions.

Organisation & Leadership Development
  • Lead and influence a large-scale organisation across Taiwan, China, Southeast Asia and India.
  • Develop senior leadership capabilities and build a strong succession pipeline.
  • Foster collaboration, accountability and execution excellence across geographically dispersed teams.
  • Act as a key member of the senior leadership team in shaping the future direction of the business.

Requirements
  • Approximately  20+ years of professional experience, including significant senior leadership experience within industrial technology, semiconductor or advanced manufacturing.
  • Deep understanding of the  semiconductor industry and ecosystem, ideally with exposure to at least two semiconductor process areas.
  • Strong experience within  industrial automation, smart manufacturing, semiconductor equipment or electronic manufacturing equipment.
  • Proven  full P&L ownership  of a substantial business, ideally exceeding  USD150 million  in scale.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating commercial and technical functions, particularly  Sales and R&D, with meaningful involvement in manufacturing decisions.
  • Proven experience leading large organisations, ideally  100+ employees, with the ability to influence significantly larger matrix structures.
  • Strong international exposure with leadership responsibility across multiple countries or regions; single-country experience alone would not be sufficient for this mandate.
  • Strategic, commercially astute and capable of operating effectively at senior executive level.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, with Mandarin required to engage effectively with Mandarin-speaking customers, industry partners, suppliers and stakeholders across key Asian markets.
