My client is a leading Financial Services organisation recruiting for a Dealing Room Risk Senior Manager. They can also consider candidates at a Manager level.
 
Responsibilities:-
 
Partner closely with trading desks to provide independent oversight of market risk across commodities portfolios spanning energy, metals, agriculture and environmental products.
Monitor and interpret risk exposures using a range of metrics (e.g. VaR, stress scenarios, sensitivities), ensuring positions remain within agreed appetite.
Design and enhance risk frameworks, including limits, triggers and early warning indicators to support proactive risk management.
Provide constructive challenge on trading strategies, new products and complex transactions.
Oversee valuation inputs and methodologies, ensuring consistency and integrity across pricing and risk systems.
Deliver clear, insight-led reporting to senior stakeholders, translating market movements into actionable risk views.
Support governance forums and contribute to the ongoing evolution of risk policies and standards.
Work cross-functionally with teams across treasury, finance and technology to embed best practice risk controls.
 
Profile:-
 
6–10 years’ experience in commodities market risk, trading, or a related control function within banking, financial services, or trading environments.
Strong understanding of both physical and financial commodities, including key risk drivers such as logistics, storage and basis risk.
Hands-on experience with market risk methodologies including VaR, stress testing and scenario analysis.
Proven ability to operate as an independent second line, providing credible challenge while building effective stakeholder relationships.
Experience working with risk systems and data tools (e.g. Python, SQL or similar).
High level of commercial acumen, balancing robust risk management with business objectives .
Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline; postgraduate study or certifications (e.g. CFA, FRM) viewed favourably.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks within financial markets or banking environments.
