They have a newly created project focused role for a financial accountant or financial analyst with an insurance background to join their IFRS 17 finance project team initially on a 12 month basis (with a view to go permanent).
This role will focus on the impact of IFRS17 to the finance function by supporting the IFRS17 Finance Lead and Financial Controller to develop reports and ways of explaining financial results to management, shareholders and regulators. The IFRS project is well advanced and is now focusing on the commercial implications of the standard and how to best present and explain the financial results. This position will help drive and finalise required reporting, planning and budgeting solutions and long term forecasting including amendments to existing reports. The role will work closely as part of a dedicated IFRS 17 team including System architects, Actuarial Resources, and Reinsurance resources.

Key Deliverables:

  • Implementing required changes for proforma Statutory Financial Reports
  • Documentation of accounting guidance notes and policies Management Reporting
  • Assisting with the changes required for management and board reporting
  • Delivering necessary input and changes to Long term planning and forecasting
  • Working with the Finance System Specialists to direct necessary mapping required for inputs into and out of general ledger
  • Finalise design of sub-ledger and general ledger
  • Develop a controls framework including data reconciliations

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Chartered accountant qualification with at least 6 years’ experience (3 post qualification)
  • Thrive on the challenge of Financial Standards with a strong and demonstrated understanding of existing standards (including IFRS 17 knowledge)
  • Good time management and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex issues
  • High attention to detail
  • Direct experience in financial reporting and interpretation
  • Strong communication skills
