Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting the APAC pricing manager in rolling out and implementing the APAC's strategic pricing initiatives, commercial standards and pricing governance and promote adoption.
  • Conduct the APAC pricing and commercial awareness sessions locally to improve
  • Partners and Senior lawyers' commercial disciplines and competitive pricing with a profitable mindset.
  • Build up an early alert system to help identify and act on problematic/high-risk matters (e.g., WIP with low recovery rate and/or high provision, clients with historical low recovery…) by implementing a systematic way to identify these matters and monitoring matter financial against agreed matter budgets.
  • Pro-actively discuss risks and issues with Partners, senior lawyers, or regional business manager, including the impact on matter financials and profitability as a result of provisions and potential write-offs. Provide, and implement pragmatic solutions to ensure the best possible financial outcome,
  • Advise Partners of ways to maximise the profitability through different pricing techniques (best use of the rates, resourcing, technology…) modelling the financial impact of proposed pricing arrangements and challenging the decisions, the existing practices and behaviours when appropriate and escalate if necessary.
  • Ensuring strong working relationships with other support functions, in particular Business Development, Best Delivery, Legal Project Manager, Working Capital to establish, promote pricing and commercial discipline for effective matter financial management, RFP, and panel appointments.
  • Engage with client procurement in client fee negotiations and supporting the Partners with client facing engagements where needed.
  • Building relationships with Partners, win their trust. Become the first point of contact, the "go to" person for Partners, Regional Business Manager and Business Development team for pricing and profitability related questions.
  • Work with legal project manager to identify how we can optimise the resources and the technology used to improve commercial outcomes for the firm and our clients.
  • Encourage broader and better use of the Firm’s tools to develop more profitable and consistent pricing approaches.
  • You will be required to propose solutions, challenge the existing practices and behaviours, and escalate if necessary.
  • Responsible for matter level escalation to Financial Controller to enable prompt resolution of issues
  • Project support and Best Practice implementation
  • Share success, promote, and live the One Finance vision and values
  • Work collaboratively with other commercial advisors in the CC network to drive working capital best practice and optimization – make it more specific
  • Actively participate in APAC projects and provide input to defining best practice
 
Skill & Experience:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, you will be proactive, have a high level of demonstrable organisation skills with meticulous attention to detail. You will have the ability to work autonomously but under Firm guiding principles.
  • Experience of working in a professional services environment, interacting with both internal Partners and external clients
  • Collaborative mindset can maintain positive & productive working relationships within Finance team and the organization.
  • Strong presentation skills and experience in providing internal training
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills and sensitive to details
  • Highly adaptive individual who embraces dynamic changes.
  • Able to work autonomously but under firm guiding principles.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Accounting and Finance or any related disciplines
  • Minimum 5-year experience, preferably in a legal or other professional services environment
  • Fluent in English is a must with very good writing skills, mandarin is a plus
