The Business Analyst role is responsible for adding value by providing business analysis, technical advice and reporting services to facilitate improvements to the businesses processes and information systems.

Key accountabilities
  • Identifying, analysing and defining systems enhancements and other improvements that increase the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of business operations across the office.
  • Consulting with business units, gathering information, analysing, documenting business processes, and making recommendations regarding process design, data capture, and reporting to better meet the business needs of the organisations various business units.
  • Developing, testing and quality reviewing specifications for regular and ad hoc reports and queries to provide senior officers with timely, high quality and relevant reporting concerning business metrics, including Key Performance Indicator reporting, and trend and issues analysis, to meet the organisations current and changing information needs.
  • Providing expert technical advice to the Principal Project Officer, and other senior managers concerning best practice solutions to business problems.
  • Producing clear, detailed project scoping and design requirements documentation that can be used by technical specialists to develop business appropriate solutions, preparing associated IT work request or requests for quotation from external developers, and liaising with users, the IT Unit, and external IT service providers to clarify business requirements.
  • Monitoring solutions implementation to ensuring that key business requirements are delivered and that existing functionality and data quality are preserved.
  • Facilitating benefits realisation through monitoring User Acceptance Testing, liaising with line managers and users to facilitate thorough skills and knowledge transfer, and working with users and IT staff to systematically identify and resolve problems.
  • Developing relationships with line managers across the office in order to create opportunities to identify business improvement issues at an early stage, so that the efficiency and effectiveness of key business processes are continually improved.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with users, including mentoring a group of users, who can conduct high quality UAT, champion improvements and contribute to the further development and of business process improvements.
