Our client is a leading financial services group and employer of choice currently growing considerably following a number of high profile acquisitions.  As part of this growth they have a newly created role within their financial control team for an experienced financial accountant.  

Reporting into the senior finance manager this is a broad role encompassing financial accounting, tax accounting and expense accounting.  

Key deliverables will include:

  • Delivery of month end accounting processes 
  • Run monthly ABC costing expense processes
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare BAS Lodgements for related entities
  • Ensure accurate preparation, completion and review of the Group’s reporting requirements
  • Drive process simplification and optimisation
  • Implementation and adoption of changed and new accounting standards
  • Prepare accounting papers and recommend reporting treatment for complex transactions
  • Provide oversight of work performed by more junior members in the team, provide ongoing coaching and training

This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading FS group which is going from strength to strength.  The role will initially be a contract for 12 months but with a view to converting to permanent.

Required skills and experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in a related financial accounting or expense role in a financial services company
  • Experience in the insurance industry advantageous
  • CA / CPA professional membership (Essential/Working towards)
  • Experience with re-designing processes and controls, process simplification and automation 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, strong verbal and written communication skills
