Principle Scientist – Consumer Science

    The position will require you to be the centralized person in understanding consumer insights and trend for the specific categories in-charged in order to bring about the right innovation to the market, putting on both a Consultant and Scientific hat.

    You will be required to:

    • Ensure consumer-centricity of specific innovations within the APAC regional pipeline.
    • Ensure that these innovations provide a consumer preferred user experience, better sensory design elements, a coherent and compelling product story, and resulting in propelled sales and brand awareness.
    • Ensure a Passion Consumer R&D approach and that everyone in R&D hears the Voice of the Consumer
    • Get involved in the entire innovation lifecycle, from ideation to product launch, as well as product optimization post launch.
    • Identify innovation opportunities from qualitative and quantitative consumer research and proactively suggests them to R&D innovation and NPD:
    • Closely partners with R&D Innovation and NPD to ensure consumer research activities are built into project plans
    • Define Ideal Product Models for initiatives via qualitative research and consumer modeling
    • Obtain consumer feedback on prototyping via qualitative and quantitative research
    • Validate lead product options via quantitative research before they undergo ‘formulation lock’.
    • Validate non-clinical claims with consumers via quantitative research
    • Refine the product story that will enable successful market launch by the commercial functions.
    • Validate with consumers the value engineering programs post launch, for in-market products.
    • Ensure that everyone in the APAC region, understands consumers attitudes and behaviours towards the company's products and competitors and is fully empowered to make the right decision for consumers, from the boardroom to the lab technician.
    • Generates best practices, develops capabilities and shares them with colleagues in the Consumer Science & Product Understanding group.
    • Ensure that interactions with consumers are compliant with the Human Subject Testing policy (408), and that all quality and regulatory requirements are met.
    • The role involves direct contact with R&D, CBI and marketing teams
    • The ideal candidate must have a unique skill set with a strong scientific background, a good understanding of the entire innovation process, expertise in Consumer Science, a high level of commercial awareness via experience with working with commercial and marketing organizations, leadership and influencing skills, a high level of creativity, problem solving and entrepreneurship.
    Requirements:

    • Relevant Scientific Degree or Higher
    • 8 years in FMCG or Healthcare space
    • Experience in Consumer Research/Products Research (qualitative & quantitative research, consumer modelling, upstream/front end consumer need definition AND downstream/product validation and claims substantiation)
    • Expertise in developing novel methodologies
    • Excellent analytical skills, including strategic thinking
    • Leadership, communication and influencing skills, ability to lead change and work witin a Matrix Environment
    • Ability to combine Innovation and Consumer Wants to bring about revenue growth
