Join a global insurer and their underwriting division as a Property Underwriter. This role will be based in Singapore for their retail market. You will assist the Head of Property Underwriting in managing the portfolio to meet overall business growth and profitability. You will perform underwriting reviews and engage the market to maintain strong visibility and relationships. Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting: Perform reviews for both Property renewals and new business whilst negotiating terms with intermediaries.
Strategise and execute Global Programs with your team (e.g. Referral approving parties, Cat Modelling, Multi-national Service Unit, Claims) and producers to best tailor made to insured's needs. Design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings.
Co-ordinate risk surveys with risk engineering team to provide value added services to our clients/insured.
Market Engagement: Build up a network and strengthen relationships with existing network of contacts.
Increase your visibility and market presence through regular market visitations and corporate events to promote the company’s products, services and risk appetite.
Maintain close liaison with producers to obtain necessary underwriting information, promote satisfactory service relationships and develop new business opportunities.
Operations and Reporting : Ensure timely and accurate updates of underwriting systems and policy administration including global program accounts. Work closely with internal and external stakeholders together in achieving process efficiency.
Compliance & Peer Review Audit: Comply to both internal and external audits requirements. Assist in performing peer review audits for other departments when required.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's Degree. Professional qualifications such as ACII would be desirable.
At least 5-8 years' professional experience in commercial lines/property underwriting or equivalent industry experience ; key experience in underwriting property and/or handling global programs.
Demonstrate succint and effective communication skills, and have strong interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders.
Present good analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority
