Join one of the world’s largest providers of accident and health insurance, and manage a growing portfolio within the Asia Pacific (APAC) market. As a key member of the APAC Regional A&H underwriting team, this role is responsible for supporting the leisure travel portfolio. The key objectives include reviewing underwriting referrals to the regional office and pro-active underwriting management to meet financial targets for the assigned. This is a Singapore based role, with little to no travel required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite new and renewal business for Leisure Travel and ensure compliance within the Underwriting Guidelines, Policies and Procedures, Underwriting Authority & Risk Appetite
  • Quantify impact each underwriting action that impacts Pegged Loss Ratios.
  • Encourage underwriting thought process in referrals made by in-country underwriters.
  • Approve rating and other underwriting criteria that exceed local and regional underwriting authority limits. Provide detailed explanation of decisions made to enhance knowledge of underwriters. Work with in-country underwriters to ensure referrals are ready for HO review.
  • Provide on-the-job coaching to improve underwriting referrals, skills, and develop succession plans based on competency of our underwriters.
  • Collect and validate preliminary audit data, ensuring it is submitted on time; it accurately reflects the P&L and has enough granularity to examine the portfolio on an account-by-account basis.
  • Organizing underwriting and financial data for audit.
  • Coordinate regular data collection and ad-hoc reporting required by regional/home office teams.

Requirements:


  • Degree/Diploma Holder
  • Total 8-10 years of underwriting experience with key experience in underwriting A&H accounts.
  • Underwriting and pricing experience with online and traditional distribution channels.
  • Drafting and reviewing policy wordings and partner agreements.
  • Review product competitiveness and positioning in the market.
  • Insurance product pricing and distribution and structuring programs.
  • Good command of English, and can converse with stakeholders from multi-cultural backgrounds. Additional South-East Asian language is highly desirable.
