As Head of Marine Underwriting Division for an international P&C insurer, you will be driving profitable growth and manage the existing marine portfolio across cargo, fine art and specie, marine hull and marine liability. You will bring previous team management experience and can work collaboratively across inter-departments.
This will be a established marine underwriting team and portfolio to manage, with view to develop new growth opportunities for a challenged next steps. Experienced marine underwriters with current or previous experience in the Singapore retail markets, please write in with your application and interest.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning
  • Define and execute the insurance strategies and work with relevant stakeholders to drive country Singapore execution.
  • Align and develop strategic plans by identifying new business segment to support growth objectives.
  • Significant focus on successful roll out of key new business opportunities and pipeline account management.
  • Product development and innovation, including conceptualising new product delivery and customer acquisition mechanisms.
Portfolio Management
  • P&L Responsibility and Portfolio Management with focus on meeting and/or exceeding revenue/profit goals.
  • Direct management of corporate accounts and all distribution channels.
  • Actively managing the monthly financial plans for the Marine portfolio.
  • Working within established guidelines to ensure that portfolio is underwritten to meet line of business targeted ratios for losses, commissions, as well as expenses.
Management and Operations
  • Responsible for deployment of Marine Department’s IT services, and ensuring efficiency and automation in operations and business processes.
  • Train, mentor and develop employees to assure required level of expertise, performance and succession variability.
  • Manage all marine-related service relationships with external and internal service platforms.
Our Key Requirements: 
  • The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of and extensive existing networks within the marine industry in Singapore (Cargo, Fine Art and Specie, Hull and Liability).
  • A proven track record in business development, sales and marketing is a critical success factor for this role.
  • At least consolidated minimum of 8 years of underwriting experience in the marine insurance industries. Analytical skills and ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within designated authority.
  • Competitive and Agile-thinking in mindset
  • Proven track record and capabilities to exceed production targets while at the same time adhering to compliance regulations.
  • Ability to understand and manage the Marine P&L including annual budgeting and forecasting
  • Strong communication skills as well as excellent written and verbal skills are a must
  • Experience in managing people and the ability to motivate a team.
