On behalf of our client, BeathChapman is assisting in identifying a Patch Management Specialist who will work as part of the infrastructure team performing technical duties supporting Patch Management and be responsible for identifying, documenting, auditing and executing patches and configuration updates. The role holder will operate closely with the Security team in order to provide remediation of identified vulnerabilities ensuring compliance and security goals. This role will also work with other business teams in global regions to track and remediate open vulnerabilities on identified systems within negotiated service levels and assure testing takes place in a development and test environments prior to promotion to production. The patching will include End User Computing, servers and networking.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assess vulnerability, patch information from compliance scans for Microsoft Windows and determine application and production impacts.
  • Assess vulnerability, patch information for network equipment including WiFi and Firewalls from various manufacturers and determine application and production impacts.
  • Provides remediation services to infrastructure teams based on vulnerability & policy compliance scans.
  • Actively participates in project activities, strategic and tactical Patch and Configuration Management model development, and improvement of procedures and standards.
  • Assists in proactively developing patch and vulnerability management procedures and processes within the operations team and in conjunction with business and IT partners.
  • Identify and assess security deficiencies and provide recommendation regarding remediation.
  • Ensure patch configuration is up to date ensuring compliance.
  • Utilize tools to automate patch deployment, such as SCCM “Systems Center Configuration Manager”, Ivanti and Secunia etc.
  • Competent is using VA/PT tools such as Tenable to ensure patches are being remediated in a timely manner and taking the leadership working with different stakeholders globally to ensure the environment are compliant to organization Patch Management Process and IT Security Policies.
  • Where tools are not in place, research, propose and perform POC “Proof Of Concept” to solve specific issues and challenges.
  • Responsible for patching assets in test and production environments while ensuring quality.
  • Participate where required in the Change Advisory Board and technical review meetings to discuss patching, vulnerability impacts and considerations.
  • Change Management is key which involves keeping track of all updates, so if anything goes wrong there is back-out plan in place.
  • Documentation of the version and configurations in order to roll back is a must.
  • Negotiate, plan and manage patch activities with both Singapore and regional businesses spread geographically globally.
  • Regular audit and assessment of whether applications have been patched for known security vulnerabilities and audit reports are a must to assist the business to understand what systems need to be patched for a given vulnerability and to ensure that all systems are in compliance.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in Computer ScienceInformation Technology.
  • MCSA: Windows Server.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of computerserver Windows System Administration and operational experience of  remediating/patching systems in an Enterprise environment.
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience working in vulnerability management.
  • Experience with National institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standards and applying Operating Systems (OS), browser and application Security Technical Implementation guides (STIGs) would be an advantage.
  • Proficient in VMware, Hyper-V, Windows Servers and Azure.
  • Working knowledge and experience with SCCM “Systems Center Configuration Manager”.
  • Working knowledge of scripting – preferably VBScript or PowerShell.
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • In depth knowledge and experience in systems wide audit and security controls.
  • Strong understanding of data communication concepts and network/software configuration management.
  • Basic networking understanding and skills including firewall.
  • PMP/CITPM/PRINCE2, ITIL V3 would be an advantage.

  • Must be highly energetic, analytical, self-driven and proactive in keeping up with patching technologies and attention to details.

  • Some on-call, after hours andor weekend work will be required.
  • Ability to coordinate with cross-functional work teams toward task completion.
  • Written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Strong customer service skills required to deliver quality results in a demanding environment.
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize and organize competing work demands with little oversight.
