Job Description

Responsibilities

Serve as primary point of contact for interaction with Japanese government officers, representatives from non-governmental organizations and other relevant officials connected to Japan space policy.
  • Communicate priorities that support mission.
  • Represent this company at government meetings, receptions and events.
  • Occasionally speak on behalf of the organization at public events.
  • Coordinate requests from governments.
  • Provide relevant Japanese policy, regulatory and legislative updates to leadership.
  • Draft inputs for Japanese Government policy or regulation of interest.
Support engineering team with research of and applications for government grants and contracts.
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming opportunities for government grants and contracts.
  • Assist engineering team with grant applications.
  • Join technical team on bid reviews and interactions with relevant funding agencies from government and international organizations.
Assist with researching and submitting patent applications.
  • Assist Director of Engineering with submitting and tracking patent applications.
  • Work with patent attorneys to answer questions and maintain awareness of global patents for products related to missions.
  • Work with engineers and patent attorney to prepare response to patent office’s comments.
Support External Communications activities
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for Japanese insurance companies.
  • Assist with drafting of briefing notes, white papers, editorials, etc., regarding and space sustainability.
  • Attend regular meetings with the External Communications team as well as with the Global Space Policy team led by US.
  • Provide regular updates to the AS Management and Vice President of Global Space Policy
Essential Skills
  • Undergraduate degree in law, international relations, political science, economics, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of working experience in relevant field; 3+ years for applicants with a Master’s degree.
  • Well-versed in Japanese space policy and regulations.
  • Background in technical understanding of space and satellite systems.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation & problem-solving skills.
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) competency.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Japanese: Native; English: TOEIC 700.
  • Experience working in the space industry.?
