This European Finance Company is looking to hire an Account Director for the Tokyo office to be responsible for two of the megabanks in Japan (and some other tier 2 banks as well). The candidate should be an experienced key client manager with a wealth of experience in building relationships with large customers, managing complex sales and driving the revenue and customer satisfaction with these customers. The candidate should have a proven track record of selling solutions of software and services to the financial services industry and knowledge of the payments and securities industry would be preferable. He should be creative, entrepreneurial and display strong execution skills.

The key responsibilities will be to:

  • Identify customer needs/market opportunities and achieve business growth by building and maintaining long term customer relationships (including developing a global view on Japanese clients)
  • Develop an account plan for projects in order to achieve targeted sales objectives generating revenue
  • Generate sales pipeline of core business (including interface solutions) and shared services such as Financial Crime Compliance
  • Represent the company and promote the company’s products and services in order to grow our business by participating in, and occasionally speaking at, workshops and conferences
  • Liaise and co-ordinate with other?divisions/departments to provide the expert knowledge to communicate solutions and market initiatives?and to deliver products and services
  • Provide regular feedback?on customer needs?regarding our products and services
  • Acquire and maintain market, product and services knowledge with a focus on Transaction Banking Services for FIs and Corporates.
  • Acquire background on financial crime compliance
  • Develop a senior level relationship and engagement with the customer to assure that this company is part of the customer strategic development




  • University degree or equivalent




  • At least 7 years of experience in sales and relationship management?preferably having focused on selling software and services to financial institutions
  • Good overall knowledge of the financial services industry
  • Strong selling skills and focus on achieving sales targets (execution)

  • Proven communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships at executive level

  • Fluent in Japanese and business level-English
