Our client a leading NSW Government Department are looking for an Assessment Officer to join their team until the end of Financial Year (with potential for extension)

The Assessment Officer contributes to the analysis and assessment of title applications, providing advice to ensure compliance with titles related legislation, Departmental processes and KPIs

Key accountabilities

  • Support the assessment and determination of a diverse range of applications for mineral and petroleum exploration, mining and production titles.
  • Provide advice and recommendations to ensure assessments and determinations align with statutory requirements and Department policies/procedures.
  • Maintain and accurately update the Titles Administration System, ensuring security payments and titles are regularly recorded and all associated actions are processed in a timely manner.
  • Draft correspondence relating to titles and securities assessments, applications and other variations; and prepare information and papers for presentation at committees.
  • Maintain a range of collaborative networks to support the delivery of services and to maintain currency with industry trends.
  • Develop, implement and monitor office systems, procedures and methods, adapting processes and techniques as required, to facilitate efficient team/unit operations in line with agency standards, policies and procedures
Essential requirements
  • Tertiary Qualification or relevant experience in a related discipline such as Planning, Mining or Environmental Science.
  • Knowledge of planning, environment and/or mining legislation and experience undertaking balanced holistic assessments involving economic, social and environmental issues
