Our client is one of Australia's leading wealth management organisations, one of the largest employers in the country and an employer of choice.  Due to a major transformation program they have an urgent requirement for a senior finance manager to join their finance team in an initial contract role to cover a project secondment.  

Reporting into the financial controller you will lead a team of on and offshore finance professionals to ensure appropriate financial control over financial data relating to areas of responsibility, including change
management and driving improvements. Specific deliverables will include:

  • Co-ordinate combined internal and outsourced team, including coaching, facilitating team meetings, training, and provision of formal and informal feedback and distribution of work amongst team members.
  • Oversee accounting activities within team, including management of month end through to ledger close.
  • Ensure effective financial control over project and other business changes.
  • Analyse areas of responsibility to identify and drive process improvements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate resolution of team issues.
  • Establish and maintain effective consultative relationships and communication with suppliers, internal customers and peers across the Finance group.
  • This is a leadership role however you will be required to get hands on at times.  Although initially a contract role there is a strong chance it would expend beyond the 9 month term and a high performer could potentially be kept on in a permanent capacity.

Required skills and experience:
  • CA/CPA qualified
  • 7-10 years in a leadership level role, ideally with experience managing offshore finance functions
  • Strong financial control and financial accounting background
  • Deep financial services background (large complex wealth management, insurance or banking groups)
  • Strong change management and process improvement mindset
  • Ability to influence and manage a wide range of stakeholders
