The Test Director in this role will manage a team of direct-report leaders and Test Managers responsible for Test Automation, Performance Engineering, Integrated Testing, Test Environments and Data, DevOps, and Release Management practices. You will have the judgement and practical experience to manage execution of the Quality Engineering Maturity Model and Roadmaps and will drive continual improvements to the QA practice, instilling a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

You will be technology-minded and people-oriented, familiar with creating and managing IT budgets and staffing complex projects. You will lead and mentor a diverse team of Quality Engineers to develop innovative approaches, techniques, and solutions to help the organisation deliver quality software solutions with speed. You will work closely and collaborate with Application Development Leaders, Project Managers, Product Managers, and others to ensure smooth integration of QA into the SDLC.


  • Work closely with multiple departments to ensure that all phases of the software development life cycle are meeting or exceeding the requirements and quality standards
  • Seek and identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement programs to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the QA organisation
  • Accountable to ensure QA and testing work is completed on time and on budget for the supported applications and Portfolio of approved project work
  • Actively support team members in establishing personal development plans and facilitate individual career growth
  • Perform appraisals of the team and set performance standards that are clearly understood.
  • Manage third party supplier partners and ensure accountability to SLAs and estimates

  • 8-10 years of successful Testing Leadership and delivery experience
  • Experience in the Financial Services (essential)
  • Must be “self-motivated” and capable of managing multiple priorities and tasks
  • Proven experience in leading end-to-end IT testing for strategic initiatives such as new product development and new systems implementations
  • Broad familiarity with (and a clear point of view on) quality assurance trends and approaches, including code coverage and quality, continuous integration, services virtualization, test data provisioning, and more
  • Ability to foster collaboration, value others perspectives and gain support and buy-in for organisational proposals
  • Ability to drive strategy and organisational design discussions and promote collaborative decision making
  • Strong analytical, risk management and problem solving skills with the ability to recognise and anticipate issues (problem avoidance vs. reactiveness)
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor others; viewed as a leader and mentor
  • Strong business acumen, with proven ability to leverage knowledge base to quickly come up to speed in new business areas and new types of projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
  • Team building skills to promote quality achievement, maximise effort and foster an environment of performance improvement amongst all team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate and articulate to stakeholders and management across multiple business functions
