We have a rare opportunity for a Development Manager to lead a high performing development team within the Wealth Management domain. You will help establish an agile workforce and coordinate the delivery of a significant pipeline of technology projects across core Front Office systems and platforms.
 
The Development manager will work closely with sponsors, business owners, other Engineering/Development Manager peers from Middle and Back Office as well as other technology teams. Success for this role will be based on collaboration with stakeholders and role modelling of agile behaviours. The ability to think critically and problem solve is key to ensuring that project milestones and deadlines are met.
 
Key Responsibilities of the Role:
  • Act as a leader to Front Office aligned software engineering and business analysis teams 
  • Oversee design, implementation, QA, and validation of programming code and products, looking for opportunities to automate where possible. 
  • Create delivery timelines and distribute responsibilities to team members 
  • Ensure appropriate scrums and stand-ups are in place to monitor Front Office initiatives; acting as escalation for any blockers that cannot be resolved by Technical or BA leads. 
  • Perform reviews on software development team members  
  • Ensure milestones are reached and deadlines 
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, application users, and program/project owners 
  • Document progress and communicate to upper management and stakeholders  
  • Design and facilitate workshops and accelerated problem-solving interventions to help identify and resolve impediments that get in the way of the groups being successful 
  • Act as a technical SME conduit between Business and Technology engineering teams, specifically in the Front Office area. 
Experience and Competencies 
  • 8+ Years’ experience in a Leadership or Development/Engineering Manager position
  • Experience in Delivery management and leading Software Development Teams 
  • A strong understanding of Front Office Systems and Technology
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written 
  • Ability to explain intricate and complicated concepts and ideas 
  • Ability to work well in complex environment 
  • Experience in implementing Agile methodology throughout SDLC 
  • Exposure to Public Markets technology and business domain. 
  • Experience in mentoring team across best practices and methodologies  
  • Experience in implementing enterprise practices for exploring ideas and challenging assumptions to create opportunities for simplification and innovation. 
  • An understanding of Portfolio Management and trading workflows and technologies 
  • Exposure to Cloud platforms (AWS, Google, Azure) from a data architecture and a data governance perspective would be highly desirable  
  • Experience of managing DevOps teams and of Continuous Delivery
