Our client is a global professional services firm with a prestigious brand who are currently experiencing exceptional growth in spite of the current economic climate - in fact they are thriving. Their Australia and New Zealand business in particular has been going from strength to strength and they have ambitious growth plans over the next 5 years. They have a high performance culture whilst maintaining a flexible and fun working environment and a highly impressive CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

They are looking to hire an ambitious high calibre finance professional to lead the ANZ finance function in a broad role covering all aspects of finance. Reporting directly into the CEO you will lead a medium sized finance function in delivering all financial and compliance reporting, FP&A and management reporting and building out a new finance business partnership function. The finance business partnership is a key part of this role and the CEO and SLT are seeking a trusted advisor who can offer strategic financial insights to help support the planned growth. In addition there is an opportunity to transform the finance function and take it on a journey to becoming a best in class function.

Key deliverables will include:

  • Acting as Trusted commercial advisor to the CEO and SLT providing accurate, concise and timely advice and business insight, adding value through simple, innovative and commercially relevant input
  • Providing commercial support across: requests for proposals, pricing negotiations, case team pricing and contract development and execution.
  • Advising and implementing best practice methods to increase revenue and reduce costs.
  • Remaining up to date on market developments impacting the business and providing strategic financial recommendations to the Leadership Team
  • Managing all aspects of financial planning, analysis and reporting to proactively provide corporate and local management with information to aid decision making and cost management
  • Proactively managing, agreeing and communicating the annual three year plan or any other planning needed
  • Monitoring performance against plan and establishing early warning signals to ensure that plans are met or that corrective actions are taken. Avoid surprises through proactive oversight and communication.
  • Ensuring local business complies with all local regulatory authorities and corporate policies in Australia and New Zealand (e.g. annual tax return, ASIC reporting, FBT return, payroll reporting, external audit etc).
  • Ensuring commercially effective and appropriate accounting policies and internal policies are in place
  • Overall accountability and leadership of the Australian Finance team supporting Australia and New Zealand operations
  • Providing effective coaching and supervision to enable the delivery high quality financial services across all areas of the Finance function.
  • Responsibility for the professional and personal development of the core Finance team, identifying opportunities for further development and growth, where appropriate.

As much as controlling the cost base is important, this organisation is much more focused on top line growth and as such this is a highly commercial finance position.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Big 4 / Top 10 trained CA
  • 10 years post qualified experience (minimum of 3 years in finance leadership role managing a medium sized finance team)
  • A proven track record across financial control, FP&A 
  • Demonstrable experience of offering commercial insights to the SLT to support growth
  • Previous experience of transforming a finance function (people, systems, processes)
  • Ideally experience within a professional services environment (or high growth medium sized organisation)
  • The client would consider a high calibre Senior Manager or Director straight from a Big 4 / Top 10 audit firm who could grow into the role
  • The organisation is highly flexible and inclusive and would also consider a candidate on a 3-4 day week if preferred
