The Role & The Organisation

Joining the Group Compliance Policy Team, the purpose of the role is responsible for building frameworks and methodologies to enable consistency across the Group (globally). You will be providing policy and technical guidance to the business in promoting and supporting the interest of the Group. 

Your Responsibilities

  • Ongoing management of policies and related initiatives, including:
    • Revision of existing policies or development of new policies to reflect changes in compliance obligations and/or business strategy, including recommended controls
    • Working with business units and the broader Group Compliance team to support the effective implementation of policies across the Group
    • Creating and managing a workflow for policy review
    • Managing timeframes and stakeholders within the review process
    • Understanding policy impact on business processes and supporting the management of change
    • Working to enhance policy simplification across the Group
    • Understanding the impact of applying Group policies in an international environment
    • Working as part of a project team, where applicable, to support related policy changes
  • Advising the business and supporting teams on the requirements of Group policies
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and simplification compliance risk practices/processes including the identification of opportunities for streamlining and removal of duplication of effort
  • Participate in the broader Compliance Risk and Operational Risk teams and contribute to team and community objectives

Your Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of solid Compliance / Risk / Governance / Legal experience, ideally in Financial Services
  • Hands-on policy drafting / review / development / research experience
  • Strong relationship management and business influencing 
  • Understanding of compliance and operational risk management principles, frameworks and generally industry practices
  • Analytical skills in understanding how policy impacts business processes
  • Ability to understand and communicate concepts accurately and concisely
  • Emotional resilience and an ability to receive feedback and constructive criticism in a non-defensive manner
  • Ability to prioritise, schedule and meet challenging deadlines
  • Understanding of the banking regulatory environment, including APRA prudential standards,  ASIC and AUSTRAC regulation
