We are currently recruiting for a Finance Systems Analyst or Systems Accountant to join one of NSW largest government departments. Due to significant investment and a strategic approach to the role systems play in the ability to make informed financial decisions there's a renewed emphasis on financial systems. As such this role has been created to ensure financial systems and reporting for the department set the benchmark for all other government departments.


  • Prepare and implement strategic and operational finance systems, including SAP/Ellipse/Pronto and the evaluation of system processes to identify areas for development and change.
  • Develop necessary reviews of finance related projects and systems within the Department. This includes any finance related transformation projects and assesses financial system impacts and/or requirements of planned proposals and initiatives.
  • Advise the Manager Systems Financial Accounting on financial system issues, requirements and usage; lead any necessary analysis and reporting regarding the use of financial systems including strategic and operational risks
  • Support internal and external audit requirements within the financial accounting and reporting team
  • Manage ad hoc project related work across the broader group and undertake ad-hoc requests for information/analysis including development of KPI reports for finance


  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Strong financial systems accounting experience with particular focus on general ledgers
  • Business analysis skills (requirements gathering, data mapping, UAT testing etc)
  • Knowledge of general IT control environments of financial systems
