My client is one of the leading insurance groups in Australia and an employer of choice. They provide exceptional career opportunities and have a progressive working culture which encompasses great flexibility, diversity and work life balance.  They are currently undergoing a major transformation program (which encompasses the IFRS 17 accounting standards implementation) and as such have a requirement for an experienced financial systems & projects specialist / lead to join the finance stream of the program. 

Reporting to the Finance Project Director you will focus on driving and supporting the finance team through the transformation program and also the transition to IFRS 17. 

Key deliverables:
  • Lead the interaction with Finance Systems and Transformation teams and the IFRS17 program leads to ensure changes are tested and integrated within the relevant finance team appropriately
  • Documenting data flow and finance processes with the Finance and systems BAU and project team
  • Assist with the specification on the dataflow requirements in the implementation planning and documentation
  • Prepare or maintain functional specifications for SAP (ledgers structure, set up, review the areas of SAP changes eg substitution, validations, new dimension) master data changes (accounts remap, new dimensions), driven by IFRS17 or other finance system developments
  • Support specifications for local finance systems changes for IFRS17, including TM1 or SAP BW report changes with Super Users
  • Support requirements for new actuarial interfaces 
  • Preparation and participation with IT colleagues for UAT test case preparation
  • Assist Accounting project leads with required reconciliations for system and data testing
  • Ad hoc requests for information/analysis from other areas within the finance organisation and project team.
Candidate requirements:
  • Accounting background/experience (CA/CPA qualified ideally)
  • Strong financial systems & projects experience 
  • Experience in SAP general ledger
  • Experience in the Insurance industry
  • Experience with Data analysis and in maintaining, building inbound and outbound interfaces for general ledgers
  • Financial accounting/reporting experience with exposure to an insurance underwriting system, either in the insurance industry or in public practice with exposure to insurance/financial services clients.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience in gathering, understanding and translating regulatory requirements into technology solution requirements
  • Relationship Management skills to partner with business stakeholders
  • IT processes and methodologies experience
 This is an excellent opportunity to join a large insurance group in a complex program of work. it will initially be a 12 month contract on a daily rate but the project is due to run for at least 24 months so strong chance of extension.
