The Organisation:

A thriving foreign bank in Australia is looking for a self motivated compliance & legal professional with 1-3 years of working experience in the Banking & Finance Law related areas. 
  

Your Responsibilities:

  • Review and update policies and procedures that support the compliance framework.
  • Maintenance and keep up to date the Compliance & Legal Registers.
  • Facilitate the quarterly obligations attestation from head of the departments.
  • Assist where necessary in the compliance monitoring activities on monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis.
  • Provide training – including induction training for all new staff and ongoing compliance & legal training.
  • Prepare periodic compliance reports for the senior management and assist with drafting reports for the regulators.
  • Facilitate translation of reports and notices from Head Office and provide reports and responds to HO inquiry as appropriate.
  • Drafting and vetting of contracts with third party service providers as well as customers and counterparties.
  • Support the Chief Compliance Officer with legal research.
  • Manage the Branch’s relationship with external law firm.
  • Advise executives and senior management about changes to the legal framework and regulatory environment of the Bank

Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Law and/or Finance (a current Practising Certificate is desirable but not essential). 
  • Knowledge of the Australian financial services laws and regulations including licensing requirements for foreign banks.
  • Basic knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards and AUSTRAC AML requirements.
  • Enthusiastic and willing to undertake a variety of tasks.
  • Self organised and motivated operator with high level of independence and integrity.
  • Proficient in both English and Simplified Chinese - spoken and written.
