Our client is one of Australia's leading insurance companies and an employer of choice. They are in growth mode having grown their business both organically and through a number of high profile acquisitions and are poised for further growth.

Due to the increase in the size of their portfolio they have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced CA/CPA qualified forensic accountant with insurance experience to join their forensic accounting team in a senior role, Reporting into the head of forensic accounting and acting as a key member of a large team you will focus on:

  • Review financial information; provide input, advice and support to Underwriting and Claims staff where applications or claims have been referred for financial review or calculations in line with the groups policies, procedures and service standards.
  • Be available for and participate in discussions of general financial scenarios and / or questions from Underwriting and Claims staff.
  • Communicate with Advisers and Customer Accountants in relation to financial information for applications and claims, as appropriate.
  • Coach and mentor forensic accountants within the team
  • Gathering factual information, i.e. searches of public databases which often reveal other entities an insured has an interest in and may be earning an income from.
  • Identify opportunities to implement new financial tools consistent with supporting the groups' Underwriting and Claims Philosophy, business practices or governance requirements.
  • Participate in the review of Underwriting and Claims Philosophy, Guidelines and Strategy, with particular emphasis on the financial approach and ensuring consistency across teams.
  • Delivery of one-on-one training to Case Managers and Underwriters on how to use the financial calculators/tools.
  • Contribute to the delivery of individual and group training, education and development
  • Ensure completion of high-quality, accurate and compliant work.
  • Identify potential opportunities to improve the way Customers and Advisers do business
  • Effectively manage internal stakeholders to ensure the business needs are met.
  • Participation in applicable group wide and Business Unit programs and initiatives.
This is a permanent role in a growing team within one of Australia's leading insurers. 

Required skills and experience:

  • CA/CPA Qualified accountant 
  • Forensic accountant with at least 3 years experience
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Previous exposure to life insurance, personal injury or claims would be highly desirable
