Key responsibilities:
  • Evaluating, directing and monitoring first line risk activities.
  • Influence risk culture, increasing awareness to Seniors/Directors and promoting the understanding of operational risk.
  • Overseeing the implementation of the Operational Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Ensure technology risk at an aggregate and individual risk type level across the function/business units are identified, analysed and reduced.
  • Assess and escalate process and system failures, people issues and external events and ensure impacts and appropriate actions are agreed.
  • Understand control failures and assist in the identification of the underlying root causes, how they impact, and determine control improvements & remediation.
  • Lead and ensure quality service delivery through effective alignment with the 3 Lines of Defence Model and Operational Risk Management Frameworks.
  • Establish and coordinate oversight committees and provide relevant risk data and insights.
  • Coach and support with the execution of effective risk management practices and provide subject matter expertise where necessary.
You will be required to take a Lead role in the following:
  • Drive a risk culture in which risk awareness and thinking is built into day-to-day business decisions.
  • Designing and delivering training relating to risk management requirements and awareness.
  • Challenging the Technology function in regards to controls monitoring and testing. Responsible for developing monitoring techniques to highlight gaps, drive improvements and escalate as required.
  • Develop, mentor and coach junior members of 1st line risk specialists.
  • Experienced within operational IT, business knowledge and risk/controls.
  • Significant technology risk, operational risk and compliance advisory experience.
  • Significant experience in a large and complex organisation, primarily in the financial services industry and/or a consulting firm/audit function.
  • Experience in managing teams and facilitation of working groups.
  • Highly developed analytical and consultancy skills with strategic mindset.
  • Self-leader; manages to high quality and time, able to influence others.
