Due to an unprecedented level of business change and transformation including a core system implementation, they have a newly created GM, Finance Transformation role reporting directly to the CFO. As GM, Finance Transformation you will focus on the successful delivery of the core system implementation from a finance perspective, coordinating the contributions of a broad range of subject matter experts within the finance function and holding the transformation team accountable for the end to end delivery of the financial requirements.

Specific deliverables will include:

  • All financial transactions are accurately recorded in the new system and interfaced appropriately to general ledger (for example gross written premium, premium earnings, premium refunds, claims estimates and payments)
  • Key Financial Controls are designed, embedded and functioning effectively and efficiently in the system
  • All Duties, Taxes and levies are accurately calculated and recorded 
  • Customer payment and instalment billing systems are appropriate, effective and efficient
  • All regulatory reporting data requirements are appropriately recorded
  • Reliable and comprehensive Management Information is produced and delivered
  • Necessary controls are embedded to mitigate future Financial and Compliance risk.
  • Coordinating the contributions of a broad range of subject matter experts within the Finance function to the project whilst maintaining oversight of the programme delivery by the project team. 
  • Act as the Finance liaison for the Transformation programme and take full responsibility for holding the transformation team accountable for the end to end delivery of the financial requirements.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate material financial risks within the project
  • Provide regular project updates to the CFO and other key stakeholders to ensure strong alignment between the project requirements and financial Requirements.
  • Partner with leaders within both Finance & Transformation to understand and develop Financial Requirements for all processes and systems which need to be reviewed, improved, or created as part of the Transformation Project.  
  • Work collaboratively and build strong working relationships within the Finance and Transformation Teams.
  • Drive decisive high quality decision-making within the Project.

Required skills and experience:

  • CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent)
  • Deep experience in Financial Systems and Controls
  • Experience in managing large scale financial transformation or IT system driven change.
  • Deep knowledge of the General Insurance Industry (life insurance, reinsurance or large financial services experience may also be considered)
  • Strong understanding of Australian requirements in respect of transaction taxes, charges and levies;
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting requirements in respect of the earning of premiums and treatment of associated reinsurance and other underwriting expenses.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Previous experience influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Strong relationship & stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in consulting.
  • Experience working with Senior Executives to influence and drive for positive outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
