The Role:

The opportunity provides the opportunity to work in a fast-paced Lie 2 Operational Risk function, and develop you risk management skills while supporting a diverse business group. You will assist to deliver the Risk’s Division Purpose of Oversight, Insight, Control. You’ll also protect and add value to the Business and customers by partnering with business stakeholders to strengthen risk culture and drive enhanced risk management maturity.

 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Act as 2nd Line Operational Risk day to day contact, to provide insights on key risks, controls, risk metrics and heightened/emerging risks
  • Actively identify, communicate and respond to operational risk exposure and themes across business units/divisions.
  • Develop and support training and accreditation initiatives, driving risk maturity and technical skills uplift across the 1st and 2nd Line
  • Contribute to project initiatives providing specialised risk insight, oversight and control to support the management of risk exposure resulting from project and change implementation
  • Advise, support and challenge management in the application of framework and policy components, including risk and control identification and assessment, incident management, issue management, risk appetite statements and risk acceptance
  • Undertake quality reviews to support continuous improvement of risk management, including thematic reviews of issues, incidents, risk profiles, risk appetite statements and supporting metrics
  • Actively contribute to and participate in Risk community events and maintain active networks
 
What do I need?
  • 5+ years of Operational Risk and/or Compliance experience in Banking & Financial Services (Line 1 or 2)
  • Practical risk advisory and partnering experience with the business to continuously add value
  • Outstanding ability to verbalise / articulate operational risk issues to influence senior stakeholders
  • Basic knowledge of the prudential and regulatory environment where a Retail Bank is operating in (APRA, NCCP Responsible Lending, Privacy Act, AUSTRAC etc.)
  • Ability to manage workload and drive the process especially in a matrix working / reporting environment
  • Consumer banking product knowledge (Mortgages, Cards, Secured and Unsecured Lendings, Deposits etc.) is desirable but not essential
