Our client is a leading financial services group and employer of choice offering great flexibility and work life balance. They are currently undergoing a major period of growth and as such have a newly created position for a systems accountant to join their group financial systems team.  

Reporting into the group financial systems manager this role will be focused on BAU systems accounting activities but will also have significant project involvement on a number of major integration projects currently underway.  Specific deliverables will include:

  • Support the Finance month end close process by being responsible for the relevant finance systems processes (with an emphasis on the cost allocation process).
  • Developing, maintaining and managing finance interfaces into the general ledger and troubleshooting relevant issues.
  • Ongoing maintenance of the Finance Systems landscape with the local and global teams.
  • Along with Finance Systems colleagues, provide technical systems assistance to the Finance team for accounting and system issues, including general ledger processes and reconciliations.
  • Undertake interaction with regional and group systems teams to ensure global changes are tested and integrated appropriately within the relevant local finance team. This will entail user acceptance testing, regression testing and system integration testing as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement in finance system processes.
  • Undertake ad-hoc requests for information/analysis
  • Build and maintain a productive relationship with the key stakeholders across both IT and Finance teams.
  • Maintain finance systems policies, procedures and data flow documentation.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • CA/CPA qualified (or part qualified)
  • Broad experience and knowledge of accounting systems (ideally with exposure to SAP)
  • Experience in a large, complex financial services environment (insurance would be advantageous)
  • Accounting background/experience with degree in accounting or similar.
  • Experience with cost allocation process and design principles in an automated general ledger environment.
  • Experience with data analysis and in maintaining inbound and outbound interfaces for general ledgers.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Relationship management skills to partner with business stakeholders
