Role Summary:

The Risk Lead sits within the Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) Risk & Change stream to support the 1LoD operational risk related duties. This role forms an integral part of the overall Financial Crime Transformation Project in line with regulatory reform. By meeting the project deliverables you will design and embed controls, to capture and meet 1st line regulatory obligations with respect to institutional client onboarding including suitability, AMLKYC, CRS, OC Regulations, Privacy and Business Conduct.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Fully comprehend the Client Lifecycle for institutional banking clients, assess the risks which are inherent in these process flows, and to identify controls (existing and new) which are appropriate for mitigating these risks, and controls which deal to relevant obligations
  • Document end-to-end process flows in Excel and/or Microsoft Visio formats
  • Map existing issues and incidents to these process flows
  • Address control weaknesses and gaps, agree with practical actions and work with 1LoD to embed the proposed controls in BAU, and to assist in the preparation for audits and Risk & Control Self Assessments
  • Present process flows, control wording and issues to stakeholders (Sydney and global locations) at all levels confidently, to reach agreement on documented process flows, controls and issue
  • Provide regular updates to the steering committee and project advisory group


  • 3-5+ years of operational risk experience in an institutional-scale project / program in Financial Services or consulting /audit firms
  • Hands-on experience in designing, testing, documenting and embedding controls as 1LoD
  • Knowledge of Client Lifecycle Management (onboarding, maintenance & off-boarding processes), Customer Screening and Risk Assessment
  • Demonstrable experience of translating the complex into the simple and influencing stakeholders with passion
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Understanding of client onboarding requirements across APAC, EU and US jurisdictions is highly desirable
