Our client is a leading Australian Insurance Group and employer of choice offering outstanding work life balance, agile working model, flexible working hours and superb career progression.  they are currently looking for a financial accountant with strong APRA experience (either from another insurer or a chartered firm) for a pivotal role within their financial control team.  Reporting into the senior finance manager and joining a high performing team of peers you will focus on:

  • Delivery of financial reporting, statutory reporting and regulatory (APRA) reporting for the General Insurance company
  • Coordinating year end and half year end audit process (liaising with external auditors etc)
  • Providing advice to business unit finance teams on technical accounting matters
  • Performing consolidation accounting
  • Process improvement of finance processes within the team
  • Involvement in capital and regulatory related projects 
  • Involvement in accounting standards implementations as required (such as IFRS 17)

Required skills and experience:

  • CA/CPA qualified accountant with minimum of 3 years financial, statutory or regulatory reporting within the insurance or baking sector
  • Or CA/CPA qualified with minimum 3 years' experience in a Big 4 or top 10 audit firm focused on insurance or banking client base
  • Strong technical financial and statutory reporting experience (IFRS standards knowledge)
  • APRA regulatory reporting experience 
  • Strong stakeholder management experience
  • Process improvement mindset
