Our client is a leading financial services group and employer of choice offering great flexibility and work life balance.  They are currently undergoing a major transformation project and as such they require an experienced Financial Systems Accountant to join the project with a particular focus on a general ledger integration.

Reporting to the Project Manager, Finance Transformation you will focus on driving and supporting the technical GL integration and transition. The role will be 100% project focused and will sit within the finance stream of a large group wide program. Specific deliverables will include:

  • Assist with the specification on the dataflow requirements in the implementation planning and documentation – based on gap analysis
  • Prepare functional specifications for GL interface, ledgers structure, AP and banking module set up
  • Support new GL interfaces and testing 
  • Support the Finance Systems team in the provision of GL support to the project and operational accounting teams overseeing GL account creation/maintenance, dimensions creation/maintenance, master data maintenance
  • Partner with local IT teams to assess product release impacts on GL and finance data flows.
  • Support the developing Finance systems architecture through the integration by being ready to document data flows supporting the finance processes
  • Preparation and participation with IT and Finance colleagues 
  • Assist Accounting project leads with required reconciliations for system and data testing
  • Ad hoc requests for information/analysis from other areas within the finance organisation and project team.
The role will initially be a 24 month contract with a probability of going permanent

Required skills and experience:
  • Accounting/Finance background (CA/CPA qualified or accounting degree)
  • Strong financial systems accounting experience with a particular focus on general ledgers 
  • Financial services background (insurance industry experience would be of particular interest)
  • Extensive experience with major GL systems (SAP would be advantageous)
  • Financial reporting knowledge (IFRS Standards)
  • Experience with underwriting systems
  • Business analysis skills (requirements gathering, data mapping, UAT testing etc)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
