Our client is a leading financial services group and employer of choice with operations across the globe. they have an excellent culture and offer hybrid working arrangement (2 days in office, 3 days from home). 

They currently have a pipeline of major projects on underway including SAP upgrade, integration, finance transformation and accounting standards implementation and as such require an experienced Senior Financial Systems Accountant to join the team and drive both BAU and project activities:

Reporting into the Senior manager, Financial Systems and Projects you will focus on:

 
  • Conduct daily operational and period closing processes within the SAP ERP landscape. Support the Finance month end close process by being responsible for the relevant finance systems processes 
  • Provide technical systems assistance to the Finance team for accounting and system issues, including general ledger processes and reconciliations.
  • Monitor and optimize automated processes. Managing change request and incidents as appropriate.
  • Work with Finance teams on BAU initiatives in line with overall Finance objectives and data governance requirements using consistent infrastructure.
  • Monitoring, developing, maintaining and managing finance interfaces into the general ledger and troubleshooting relevant issues and supporting data integrity.
  • Undertake interaction with regional and group systems teams to ensure global changes are tested and integrated appropriately within the relevant local finance team. This will entail user acceptance testing, regression testing and system integration testing as needed
  • Participate and support the projects and initiatives which are undertaken by Finance.
  • Drive continuous improvement in finance system processes.
  • Undertake ad-hoc requests for information/analysis.
  • Maintain finance systems policies, procedures, and data flow documentation.

The role will be 50% BAU focused and 50% project focused. 

Required skills and experience:

  • Accounting background/experience with degree in accounting or similar.
  • Experience in SAP general ledger
  • Experience in Financial Services or Insurance
  • Experience with Data analysis and in maintaining, building inbound and outbound interfaces for general ledgers
  • Financial accounting/reporting experience 
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Extensive experience in gathering, understanding and translating regulatory requirements in to technology solution requirements
