This is a high-visibility, strategic role reporting into the region's Regulatory Head (a corporate function, independent of the local commercial team), with real influence over portfolio, market-entry and launch decisions as the business scales through acquisition-led growth.
What you'll be doing
- Own regulatory strategy in-market for India and the Middle East, moving the function from transactional/administrative support to a strategic, risk-led partner to the business.
- Act as the regulatory decision-maker in a distributor go-to-market model — setting strategy and direction rather than simply relaying distributor guidance.
- Navigate genuinely ambiguous regulatory environments, particularly for cosmetics and medical devices, where classification and requirements vary by market and authority.
- Build the processes, networks and ways of working that don't yet exist in a lean, fast-growing regional structure.
- Partner closely with distributor-side regulatory counterparts and, over time, help shape the case for additional regional regulatory headcount.
- Monitor the regulatory landscape and advise the business on emerging risk and opportunity across cosmetics, medical devices, household and health/OTC-classified products.
What you'll bring
- A degree in pharmacy, chemistry, life sciences, engineering or a related technical field.
- Solid regulatory affairs experience within consumer health, personal care or another multicategory regulated environment, with cosmetics experience essential.
- Experience in at least one other complex, highly regulated category (e.g. medical devices, chemicals, OTC/health products) is highly valued; direct Middle East/GCC exposure is a plus but not essential for the right, adaptable profile.
- Genuine comfort operating as an individual contributor in a lean, ambiguous, fast-changing environment — this is not (initially) a people-management role.
- Strong stakeholder influence without formal authority, sound judgement in grey areas, and the confidence to challenge distributor input where needed.
- Professional working proficiency in English, as the role requires regular communication, reporting and stakeholder engagement with regional and global teams in English.
Why apply
- A rare opportunity to build a regional regulatory function from the ground up, for a growing, acquisitive global consumer health business.
- A genuine seat at the table shaping market entry, classification and launch decisions — not a back-office compliance function.
- Hybrid working (3 days office / 2 days home), based in Mumbai, with a clear path to a broader remit as the India & Middle East organisation matures.
